Who We Are

We are locals operating a small business that helps support our community. We are residents trying to keep up with bills. We are business owners who rely on tourists. We are cleaners, window-washers and landscapers. We are your neighbors.

The Olympic Peninsula Lodging Alliance is a 100 percent volunteer organization with a singular vision: All of us care deeply about this beautiful place where we live, and we see short-term rentals as a vital economic engine that supports an entire ecosystem of jobs for our community. We believe that we add to our community both economically and in terms of tourism.

We are a diverse group. We are veterans or retirees searching for ways to remain in our homes and maintain a quality of life in this place that we love. We are single mothers doing what we can to make ends meet. We are families reliant on short-term rental income to supplement stretched budgets in a challenging economy.

Each of us has a unique story to tell about why we are in this business and the difference our short-term rental has made in our lives. But in one regard we’re all the same. All of us are deeply ingrained in the fabric of our community, and we seek to preserve a means to generate income in a responsible way while benefiting the local economy.

There is a misconception that "outsiders" are "buying up" Port Angeles short-term rentals. A Port Angeles Association of Realtors poll of 41 members this year revealed that in the past 24 months there were no corporate buyers purchasing homes to use for short-term rentals.
